Base ball is back in RomeoAfter more than 100 years, the "Inland Cities Base Ball Club of Romeo" is forming again. The club currently has openings for adult players that span several generations.
The first "match" will be played at home (Romeo Lions Field), facing the Mount Clemens Regulars on May 16 as part of the Romeo Victorian Festival activities.
Additional weekend matches will be planned with other local clubs — such as the Northville Eclipse, Welkin Club of Port Huron, Rochester Grangers and the Royal Oak Wahoos. There is also an opportunity to play at Greenfield Village in a match with one of their Base Ball clubs during the summer.
The Romeo club is also looking for a few businesses to be "charter sponsors" to help with some of the initial start-up costs that are involved. The cost for uniforms will be paid by the individual club members.
An informational meeting is scheduled to be held at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday Feb. 3, at the Romeo Arts and Archives Center located at 290 North Main Street.
For questions contact Bob Hart at (586) 992-3311 between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday-Friday, or e-mail email@example.com.
