Appeal for recall
petitions denied

An appeal made by three Romeo Community Schools Board of Education members against petitions filed for their recall has been denied.
As of March 22, the Macomb County Circuit Court denied the appeal made by Board Vice-President Mike Stobak and Trustees Greg Jacobson and Jennifer White against the language in nine recall petitions.
Since the judge agreed with the Macomb County Election Commissioners, those who filed the petitions will have another 180 days to collect and submit signatures, as the ones collected prior to the judge's decision are invalid.
The petitions list reasons such as voting yes to outsourcing custodial jobs, spending $25,000 on a superintendent search and voting to terminate the executive business director.
