celebrate 421 seniors by CHRIS GRAY
Romeo High School Principal Mike Kaufman said there is something special about each class that graduates, and this year's seniors are no different.Observer Staff Writer "They're an outstanding group of kids that not only have high academic standards, but also are a great deal involved in their community and in extracurricular activities," he said. "I'm excited for them, but also sad that they'll be leaving us." Around 421 students from the Class of 2012 will walk across the stage on June 3 to receive their diplomas. The commencement ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. at the Ultimate Soccer Arena in Pontiac with "Pomp and Circumstance" played by the Romeo High School Symphony Band. Throughout the ceremony, vocal performances will be held by students such as Alyssabeth Beadle, Nicole Billette, Lauren Binkowski, Helen Bressler, Dallas Long and Megan Stys. Speeches will be given by class co-presidents Bailey Engstrom and Alexandrea Rizo as well as salutatorian Megan White and valedictorian Danielle Peyerk. This will be the second time the district holds the ceremony at the Pontiac venue. Kaufman said the space allows for the district to not only hold it indoors, but to give plenty of space for family and friends to attend. "We had to find something that met our needs and had capacity so we didn't have to limit the amount of guests that could participate," Kaufman said. |
