13th Moonlight
Madness Dec. 13

by CHRIS GRAY
Observer Staff Writer
Friday the 13th may be considered an unlucky day, but shoppers can make their own luck by finding late-night bargains in downtown Romeo.
The Romeo Merchants, Restaurants and Professionals (MRP) Association is holding the 13th annual Moonlight Madness sales event from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Dec. 13.
MRP Treasurer Carol Humphreys said the annual event is the last one held by the MRP before the new year, with participating stores offering sales and extended business hours for those seeking last-minute gift ideas.
"It's one of the favorite events that go on, it's that last-minute shopping," Humphreys said. "Everybody is in a good mood and there are always bargains to be had."
In matching the late-night theme of the event, the MRP will hold a pajama contest with $25 gift certificates up for grabs. Prizes will be given to the cutest pajamas and most outrageous pajamas. Contestants can enter at any participating store. Those wearing pajamas will receive an extra discount at the stores.
Shoppers that earned Moonlight Bucks during the MRP's Holiday Open House on Dec. 6 and 7 can redeem them during Moonlight Madness. For every $20 spent, shoppers received a Moonlight Buck that can be used at any participating business.
The Romeo MRP is made up of Romeo businesses and organizations dedicated to promoting the historic village and its businesses. For more information, visit www.romeoMRP.com.
