The grant was awarded by Bob Hart Allstate Agency in Washington Twp. The Allstate award program's objective is to create hometowns as better and safer places to live. ABMe was started in 2009 by Karen Palka, founder and executive director, and since its inception has had more than 900 young ladies participate in a workshop series within Michigan and internationally. The goal of the program is to provide young ladies and women with confidence-building activities through workshops with an outcomes-based evaluation. ABMe's belief is that positive self-esteem will result in well-adjusted, confident, empowered women who positively impact their schools, community and society.
