MEETING A LITTLE FRIEND

Romeo Post Office Rural Carrier Carissa Delgado's 8-year-old daughter, Isabella Delgado, was invited to Comerica Park Wednesday, Sept. 26. Prior to the start of the Tigers-Kansas City Royals game during batting practice, Isabella met Detroit Tigers Manager Jim Leyland, Gerald Laird, Brennan Boesch, Phil Coke and Miguel Cabrera. Isabella plays in the Miracle League of Michigan.
The City of Southfield is home to Michigan's FIRST baseball field for children with any physical or cognitive disability, offering the true Major League experience. Cabrera, a frequent visitor at miracle games, contributed $5,000 to the league to be used for field repairs and to assist families with their player registration fees. Above, Cabrera presented Isabella with an autographed baseball and one of his special T-shirts, "Cabrera's Chamita's." Chamita's is Venezuelan for "little friends."
