The number of deer-related auto accidents in Macomb County has decreased between 2010 and 2011.decline in 2011 According to the latest data from the Michigan State Police, a total of 543 vehicle-deer collisions took place in Macomb County in 2011, down from last year's number of 627. The majority of 2011's accidents took place on local streets, resulting in 23 injuries and no fatalities. According to the Michigan Deer Crash Coalition, 53,592 vehicle-deer crashes occurred in the state in 2011, down from 55,867. Of those accidents, eight people were killed and another 1,464 injured. Vehicle-deer crashes cost at least $130 million per year, with an average insurance claim of $2,100. |
