Applications of
limestone OK'd

by KIMBERLY SCHERER
Observer Special Writer
Several more miles of road will receive an application of limestone this year following the Board of Trustees' approval Feb. 5.
Supervisor Dan O'Leary said every year the county lets the township choose 2-3 miles of roads that are in need of a limestone application.
Three miles and a little extra was approved following the recommendation from a group consisting of engineers from Giffels Webster, O'Leary, county representatives and Public Works Supervisor Steve Hohensee.
O'Leary said Campground Road from 29 Mile to 30 Mile roads is slated for a limestone application as well as 30 Mile from M-53 to the bridge going east, and Powell from 30 Mile to 31 Mile roads.
He said if anything is left over, they plan to use it for Mount Vernon.
"The county has been very generous to us with the limestone," he said, adding that every year they give a little extra.
The limestone will last for about three years. O'Leary said eventually he would like to see some of those roads paved, as they will be near the upcoming community center.
