Freshman have difficult
The Romeo High School freshman football team traveled to Warren Mott and lost their opening game, 26-22.time in season opener "Mott's team was bigger than we expected and they had a good, skilled quarterback who threw and ran very well," Coach Buzz Zube said. "In the first half we had seven penalties, missed tackles and players lining up out of position. We played a more solid second half of football even with losing our quarterback, Antonio Compo, on the first series with a broken arm. "The Bulldogs scored their first touchdown on Cory Franzel's 82 yard kick off return. Dwight Towne scored on touchdown runs of 2 and 4 yards. Towne led the offense with 68 yards on 21 carriers. Sam Cruz led the defense with 15 tackles and a fumble recovery. Linebackers Joey Gardner and Mike Archutowski followed with 13 and 12 tackles, respectively. The Bulldogs will play Ford II High School at Stevenson High School 7 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 2. |
