Great performances mark championship
run for cross country teams

      Great performances marked the Romeo High School cross country teams' efforts at the Macomb County and MAC White Championships.
       On Oct. 17, the girls' cross country team won the Macomb County Championships, narrowly defeating Sterling Heights Stevenson by two points. Shelby Jackson won the individual title with a time of 19:27, which earned her First Team All-County Honors. Also earning First Team Honors was Shannon Boyce, finishing in fourth place with a time of 19:50.
       Earning Third Team All-County Honors were Jenna Thomas, 20th, 20:46, and Rose Propst, 21st, 20:47. Rounding out the scoring for the Bulldogs were Maria Quas, 24th, 21:06, Dani Peyerk, 26th, 21:16, and Cassidy Pawlitz, 37th, 21:47.
       The junior varsity team saw strong performances with Marie Mets placing fourth,, 22:25, and Alisha Jones in seventh, 22:57. Shelby Holliday finished in 41st, 25:21, and Bailey Pearce in 62nd, 25:59.
       The girls also won the MAC White Division title, which helped cap a 14-0 season. Earning All-Conference Honors at the meet were MVP Jackson, Boyce, Thomas and Propst. Other strong performances included Holliday, Pearce and Jones, running best times in tough, windy conditions.
       The boys' cross country teams fared well at the County meet, placing third behind DeLasalle and meet champion Dakota. Leading the team in 21st place and earning Third Team All-County Honors was Nick Jackson, 17:15. Rounding out the Bulldog scoring were Doug O'Hair, 23rd, 17:25, Joe Gerow, 24th, 17:26, Kory Lohrmann, 26th, 17:27, Jason Saliga, 42nd, 17:50, Kevin Dyer, 44th, 17:54, and Trevor Sharnas, 78th, 18:39.
       The boys' junior varsity team saw Jesse Thomas in sixth, 18:36, Josh Super in 10th, 18:48, Aaron Pletta, 12th, 19:00, John Haning, 14th, 19:06, Nick Campbell, 24th, 19:33, Alden Pack, 25th, 19:36, Zach Peterson, 32nd, 19:43, John Pletta, 42nd, 20:00, Jacob Pintal, 44th, 20:05, Andrew Nelson, 75th, 20:51, and Cody Murphy, 118th, 22:59.
       The boys also finished strong at the MAC White Division Championships, finishing in second place behind St. Claire. Earning All-Conference Honors were Jackson and Lohrmann. Other strong performance and running season best times were Sharnas, A. Pletta, J. Pletta, Saliga, Nelson, Peterson, Haning, Campbell, Pack and Murphy.
