Four from girls' track team
to compete at State meet

      The Romeo High School girls' track and field team took third place out of 16 teams in the 2012 D-1 Region 9 track meet held at Brandon High School this past Friday night.
       The team qualified four athletes who will compete at the D-1 State track finals to be held June 2 at East Kentwood.
       Romeo had two regional champions on Friday - Sloane Brunner who threw a 36-4.5 in the shot put and hurdler Natalie Peterson who ran a winning personal best of 15.3 in the final to advance to the State meet.
       Erika Perry took 2nd in the shot put with a throw of 35-2 and Shelby Jackson placed 2nd in the 3200 meter. Brunner, Peterson, Perry and Jackson will all advance to the 2012 D-1 Track and Field Finals.
       Other medal winners at the Regional track meet were:
       Alica Arnold, 8th, 1600 meter, 5:29; Sarah Kort, Julie Kort, Peterson and Rebekka Nurmala, 5th, 4x100 meter relay 52.2; Peterson, 4th, 300 hurdles, 47.9; S. Kort, 7th, 200 meter, 26.6; Jodie Bosheers, 6th, high jump, 4-9; J. Kort, 5th, long jump, 15; Charissa Gerow, 8th, shot put 31-3.5; Brunner, 3rd, discus, 109-9; and Perry, 6th, discus, 100-4.
