Academic honor roll . . .

      For the past 27 years, the Richard Muir family has funded the Romeo High School Academic Varsity Letters (identical to a sports letter for a varsity jacket but academic replaces a particular sport).
       Muir thought it important to honor those students who had academic success equally as the kids who had athletic success. So, in 1985, he awarded the first Romeo High School Academic Varsity Letters. Since then, the family has awarded more than 5,400 Academic Letters to the smartest and brightest students in the community.
       Juniors and seniors are eligible but must attain a GPA of 3.5 for more than four semesters.
       This year, Christina Muir and Rick Muir presented the Academic Letters to the 2012 recipients at the Honors Convocation on May 14 at Romeo High School.
