Volleyball team playingThe Romeo High School varsity volleyball team won its first league match against Anchor Bay in a tough five-game match on Thursday, Sept. 13. Scores were 24-26, 25-23, 15-25, 25-22 and 15-12.

"We have been playing tough teams all preseason to prepare us for our league, which is why I was a little surprised by the slow start," Coach Stacy Williams said. "We struggled to come out of the gate strong, however once we found our confidence, mental toughness and determination is what got us the win tonight."
Freshman Gia Milana had 21 kills, junior Karlie Kelly 19 kills and junior Jodie Bosheers seven kills.
Junior Ali Bellas led the team with 11 consistent serves and relentless defense in the fourth set.
The girls beat Chippewa Valley in three games on Thursday, Sept. 27. Milana had one block and 11 kills. Kelly had eight kills, Bosheers had a block and Claire Fraeyman had two blocks and four kills. Sophomore Lauren Korth led in front row defense, getting three solo blocks.
League record is now 3-1.
