GPS pulls in convincing
win against varsity girls
by RICK DESOTELLClaire DeBoer showed everyone Friday night why she is considered one of the top players in the MAC conference finishing with 20 points and 10 rebounds to lead her Grosse Pointe South team to a convincing 63-41 MAC Red win at Romeo.

The first quarter was a wild one with both teams combining for 32 points and South holding a 19-13 lead.
Things settled down a bit in the second quarter as both squads scored just seven points and South still led by six, 26-20, at halftime.
Romeo's 3-point shooting kept it close throughout but early runs in the third and fourth quarters put the game away for the Blue Devils who improved to 6-1 overall and 1-0 in the Red.
Lindsey Hernden led Romeo (0-1 MAC Red and 3-2 overall) with 13 points. Chelsea Malburg finished with five points and nine rebounds; Lauren Bright, who got into early foul trouble, also had five points, Andrea Madden, Kylie Resner and Briana Becker had four points each and Jodie Bosheers (seven rebounds), Morgan Gardner and Danielle Szajna had two points apiece.
The Lady Bulldogs will not play again until Jan. 8, when they host L'Anse Creuse in a MAC-crossover game and then get right back to MAC Red action on Friday when they travel to Dakota.
