Varsity softball team
starts season 2-3 overall

by RICK DESOTELL
Observer Sports Writer
Sterling Heights Stevenson's Alyssa Huntley hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning to tie things up with Romeo, 3-3, and the Titans went on to win the opener of a doubleheader in the ninth, 4-3, when Haley Knodell doubled to left field and scored on a hit by Nicole Vitale.
In the top of the ninth, Romeo put runners on first and second with no outs, on hits by Morgan Gardner and Kayla Noch but, following a 30-minute weather delay, Huntley (the starter for Stevenson) got the next three batters to earn the win.
Romeo (0-1 MAC Red, 2-3 overall) led 3-0 in the fifth inning, on hits by Noch that drove in two runs and another by Romeo starting pitcher Taylor Weaver.
Weaver finished with 12 strikeouts on the mound and Geordin Craun had three hits for Romeo.
The second game was called due to rain in the top of the fourth with the Titans leading 3-0.
