Tough week for girls' swim team;The Romeo High School swim and dive team members gave it their all last week, but still came away with two losses to county powerhouses Eisenhower and Chippewa Valley.
new 500 yard freestyle record set
The highlight of the Chippewa Valley meet was sophomore Natalie Krzemecki setting a new varsity record in the 500 yard freestyle.
The team first traveled to Eisenhower, where it competed against an Eagle team with a great amount of depth. The Bulldogs had great swims, according to Coach Sue Trush, but it wasn't enough as the Bulldogs lost by a score of 82-104.
The following are Bulldog point scorers for the Eisenhower meet in each event. Those qualifying for the county meet are indicated with an * and those qualifying for the Michigan Interscholastic Swim Coaches Meet are indicared with an ^.

The Romeo High School team then took on Chippewa Valley, the county champions in 2012. The Big Reds team was twice the size of the Bulldogs and are on track to defend their county title again this year. The Bulldogs gave it a great effort, but found themselves losing by a score of 67-119. Krzemicki set the new record in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:31.29. She beat the record set in 2003 by Michelle Raska. She now holds three individual records and one relay record on the school record board.

The Bulldogs were to compete against White Division foe L'Anse Creuse at home on Tuesday and Red division crossover Dakota on Thursday at home.
The Romeo High School girls' swim and dive team will be hosting their 2nd Annual "Splash Out Cancer" Pool Party on Friday, Sept. 27, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The pool party is geared for elementary students and is a great way for them to help kick off Watchdog week. Admisssion is $3 per student (parent admitted free) or $10 per family. There will be swimming, music, games, raffles, snacks and fun. All are invited to come and make a splash for Watchdog week.
