Schools evacuated due to written threat

A "time-related" threat written on a wall at Romeo High School caused the facility to close Friday morning.
Around 7:35 a.m., Superintendent Joe Beck said he received a call about a situation at the school from the principal. Discussions with the administration and crisis team lead to closing and evacuating the school and the Romeo Engineering and Technology Center by 9:30 a.m. Beck said seven officers from the Macomb County Sheriff's Office were on scene.
"I think most of the kids at the high school were upset, they're upset these things happen," he said. "This is totally unacceptable."
A $500 to $1,000 reward has been posted for information leading to the arrest of a suspect. The nature of the threat has not been released due to an on-going investigation, though Beck said hall passes were not issued to students prior to evacuation.
