HEADS UP. The Romeo High School football program received a $1,000 equipment donation from USA Football last week. The Indianapolis-based nonprofit organization, through its Head Up program, promotes football education and safety to minimize concussions and injury. The organization offers certification courses that have been completed by all football coaches at RHS, as well as at Powell and Romeo middle schools, according to RHS athletic director Greg Brynaert. Romeo is one of the few school systems in the state whose coaches are all Head's Up certified. USA Football representatives were joined by former Detroit Lion quarterback Eric Hipple, who spoke to the Romeo team. USA Football's appearance was in conjunction with ESPN to celebrate the start of Monday Night Football. Video footage from the event will be incorporated into a segment that will appear on a Monday Night Football game later this season.
