PMS football results
The Powell Middle School seventh grade football team saw a 22-8 victory over Romeo Middle School in the annual friendship game held Tuesday, Oct. 28. It was the team's best performance of the season and a great team win.Romeo Middle School came into the game undefeated and scored on their possession. Powell kept fighting, however, and scored late in the second quarter when Carter Wilson dove across the goal line. At halftime, Powell trailed 8-6. In the fourth quarter, Wilson put Powell on top with a 70 yard touchdown run around the right end of the line. Andrew Lamkin, Blake Williams and Riley Ruppert had huge blocks on the play. Zak Rizo's pass to Brandon Lebioda for the two-point conversion made the score 14-8, Powell. Rizo sealed the victory with a 20-yard interception return to the end zone. Rizo's two-point conversion run made it 22-8. The eighth grade team lost to Romeo Middle School. They played a good half of football but were unable to hold the line in the second half. Alex Sharp played well defensively. The lone score came from a three-yard run by Dimitrios Agas. The teams played L'Anse Creuse East on Tuesday, Oct. 21. The seventh grade team lost a tough game, 16-6. The team played well defensively, led by Wilson and Jordan Hess. Offensively, Lamkin scored on a 60-yard touchdown pass from Rizo in the second quarter. The eighth grade lost 28-6. The lone score came from a 15-yard pass from Evan Richardson to Jacob Hoxsey. |
