Holiday happenings


      Holiday events have been planned in several communities to be held over the next several weeks.The Romeo-Washington-Bruce Parks and Recreation have many events planned. For information call (586) 752-6543.€ The Romeo Parade & Tree Lighting will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 3. The parade will begin at the Community Center and proceed down Morton to 32 Mile Road, ending at the Romeo Village Park for the tree lighting. The Lions Club will provide cocoa, cookies and roasted chestnuts. Holiday music and visits with Santa will take place at the park. The event is sponsored by the Romeo Lions Club.
       € The Washington Tree Lighting, sponsored by the Washington Lions Club, will be held from 7-9 p.m., Friday, Dec. 4. The evening begins with the tree lighting followed by refreshments, a puppet show and a visit with Santa inside the township hall.
       € Children can enjoy Breakfast with Santa at the Masonic Temple, sponsored by the Romeo Masons, on Saturday, Dec. 5. Three meal times are available: 8:30-9:45 a.m., 9:45-11 a.m. and 11 a.m.-12:15 a.m. Reservations are required. Christmas caroling, free balloon sculptures from Tootsee the clown will be available.        Wolcott Mill Metropark will hold several activities. Call the Historic Center at (586) 749-5997 or the Farm Center at (586) 752-5932.
       € Heritage Holidays will be held at the Historic Center from 6-8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, Dec. 4-5, 11-12 and 18-19. Santa will visit from 6-7:30 p.m. nightly. The grounds will be lighted and decorated in a Œ60s motif.
       € Children can make a gingerbread house at 2 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 5-6, at the Historic Center. Registration is required.
       € An Evening with Santa will be held at 6 p.m., Friday, Dec. 4, at the Farm Center. Enjoy a meal with dessert, plus visit Santa and make a craft. Reservations required.
       € Lunch with Santa will be 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 5-6, at the Farm Center. Have a picture taken with Santa, take a horse-drawn wagon ride, make a craft and sing holiday songs. Reservations required.
       Grace Lutheran Fellowship will offer A Night at Bethlehem from 5-9 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 12. Visitors can experience life in Bethlehem at the time of Jesus' birth, exploring the city, visiting various food and activity booths and send greetings to the troops overseas. The church is located at 7525 32 Mile Road in Romeo. Call (586) 752-9800 for information.
       The Dryden Wesleyan Church will present "A Night in Bethlehem" living nativity from 6:30-9:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday, Dec. 4-5. Refreshments will be served. The church is located at 5274 Main Street. Call (810) 796-2157.
       Ray Township will hold their Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 2. Cookies, cocoa, a visit with Santa, live reindeer, Christmas carols, horse drawn wagon rides and free raffles will be available. The event is free and no registration is required. It will be held at the Ray Township Offices, 64255 Wolcott Road. Call (586)749-5171.
       Shelby Township will hold two events at the Shelby Township Community Center. Call (586) 731-0300.
       € The Annual Christmas Aglow will be at 7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 3, at the Shelby Township municipal grounds. Caroling with the Eisenhower High School choir and band, Santa's Snack Shop, a marshmallow roast and horse drawn wagon rides will be available, as well as a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus.
       € Breakfast with Santa & Friends will be at 9:30 and 11:30 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 5. Reservations are required.
       American Tree will hold a Christmas Festival from noon-4 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 5-6. Events include a visit from Santa, a bnfire, ornament making station, hot chocolate and cookies and Christmas Carols. American Tree is located at 3903 Van Dyke. Call (810) 798-2525.
       Stony Creek Metropark will hold Lunch with Santa at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 5, and 1 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 6. Registration is required. Call (586) 781-9113.
       The Richmond Community Tree Lighting and Santa Parade will be Friday, Dec. 4, at the Beebe Street Park Gazebo and Community Center. The parade will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the K-Mart Plaza and proceed down M-19 to Park Street, ending at Beebe Street Memorial Park. Christmas carols and refreshments will be at 6:30 p.m. followed by Santa's arrival and the tree lighting at 7 p.m. Pictures with Santa will be available.
       The Richmond Community Choir will present Sounds of Joy at 7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 11, and 2 and 5 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 13, at the Richmond High School Auditorium located at 35320 Division Road. No tickets are required but seating is limited. Call (586) 752-2525.
       Macomb Symphony Orchestra will perform its 35th annual holiday concert at 4 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 6, at the Macomb Center for the Performing Arts located on Garfield Road at Hall Road in Clinton Township. Tickets are on sale. Call (586) 286-2222.
       Metro Beach Metropark will hold two holiday programs. Call (586) 463-4332. Lunch with Santa & Mrs. Claus will be held 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 5, in the Thomas S. Welsh Activity Center. Visit with Rosco the Clown, have lunch and visit with Santa. Advance tickets are required. Children ages six and older can attend Christmas Tree Ornaments from Nature at 1 p.m.., Saturday, Dec. 12, at the Nature Center. Learn to make unique ornaments from objects found in nature to take home. Pre-registration is required.
       Crocker House Museum, located at 15 Union Street in Mount Clemens, will hold a St. Nicholas Day Celebration Tea at 1 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 6. On Thursday, Dec. 10, they will hold a Victorian Christmas Wallow & Wassail from 5-9 p.m., and at 1 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 20, a Victorian Christmas Formal Tea will be held. Call (586) 465-2488.
