Cinco de Mayo
in Imlay City


      Wooden sombreros have been placed throughout downtown Imlay City in preparation of the Cinco de Mayo festival on Saturday, May 5.
       The event is hosted by the Imlay City Area Chamber of Commerce, the Downtown Development Authority and the Hispanic Service Center.
       A stage, located at the corner of Third and Main streets, will hold a full day of entertainment beginning at 10 a.m. with a welcome ceremony followed by the performance of Las Adelitas, a Hispanic dance troop. Magician Ray Champion will perform at 11:30 a.m., a mariachi band at 2 p.m. and La Centella Musical, a local Hispanic band, will close out the entertainment from 4-7 p.m. A DJ will provide music throughout the day. Pinatas will spill candy at 11 a.m. with contests running for three age groups.
       A salsa making competition will also be held. Individuals, businesses, service clubs and restaurants are invited to participate. Pre-registration is required. Visit www.imlaycitymich.com or call (810) 724-1361 for information.
