20th V-day mark The Romeo Post Office has entered into its 20th consecutive year of offering the Romeo Valentine's Day cancellation postmark. Since 1993, the post office provided a special postmark celebrating Valentine's Day. In 1995, the post office teamed up with its compatriots in Juliette, Georgia to have a dual postmark that harkens to the fated lovers of William Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet." The mark is a silhouette of a couple expressing their love to one another. There is no additional cost to receiving the postmark aside from normal postage rates. To receive the special cancellation, enclose a stamped, addressed valentine in a larger envelope and mail it to: Romeo and Juliette Valentine Cancellation, Postmaster, 119 Church St., Romeo, MI 48065-9998. The cancellation mark will be offered until Feb. 28. |
