set for May 30
May 30 has been set as the date for the 2013 Romeo baccalaureate.
The event is being put on by the Romeo Baccalaureate Committe and STATIC (Students Taking Action Together in Christ). Donations from many individuals, local churches, businesses and organizations has allowed the event to be held at the Romeo High School again. More than 120 graduates and their guests attended last year's baccalaureate.
The theme for this year's event is "Let the Future Begin!"
"Baccalaureate is a non-denominational Christian service that honors graduating high school seniors," said Sue Goodreau, committee chairperson. "It is a way of getting the senior class together so that they can receive prayer and blessing before they graduate and go out into the world."
Goodreau said the service is organized with the senior in mind and will include live music from a contemporary Christian band, lots of videos and DVDs, and a message from a pastor/speaker geared for seniors.
This year's message will be given by Pastor Jon Waters from River of God Community Church.
The committee is requesting that an RSVP be sent in by those planning to attend. To RSVP, go to the committee's website, www.romeobacc.com, and click on RSVP/Contact Us page.
