The Ray Township Historical Society (RTHS) will host a second Gorgeous Gourds: History & Craft Event from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, June 1 at the Ray Township Senior Center, 64255 Wolcott.
The historical speakers and gourd class instructors for the event are Paul Irla and Gloria Irla-Marlow, members of the Michigourders. Participants will learn the history of the many types and uses of gourds throughout the ages and make their own one-of-a-kind creative gourd. All materials will be provided, including the gourd and design ink dyes.
Cost for the event is $20 (RTHS member, $18). Light refreshments will be served. The reservation deadline is Wednesday, May 29 with a limit of 30 participants.
