All male, 'heartthrob'
vocal group to perform
"Retro Never Sounded So Now!" That is, according to Under the Streetlamp, the vocal group coming to Meadow Brook Theatre for two shows only.
Michigan's largest producing professional theater, and a 501(c) 3 organization, is bringing in the all-male, all heartthrob vocal group as a fundraising benefit on Saturday, July 20 for shows at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
The group, made up of Michael Cunio, Michael Ingersoll, Christopher Kale Jones and Michigan native, Shonn Wiley, are all recent leading cast members of the Tony Award-winning sensation Jersey Boys.
Under the Streetlamp was formed after the four former Jersey Boys stars finished a production of the show, based on the life and times of The Four Seasons. The boys loved performing together so much that they formed the current group and have been touring ever since.
"If you loved Jersey Boys, you'll love this show," said Cheryl Marshall, MBT's managing director. "I've seen the performance several times and each time I find something new to love. I can't wait for our audiences to see what this group can do. It's truly going to be an amazing performance."
The July 20 performances at Meadow Brook Theatre promise the appeal of classic music, wonderful comedy and Broadway showmanship all in one production. Under the Streetlamp brings amazing renditions of timeless music with such hits as "Twist and Shout," "At Last," and even a little "I Love Rock and Roll," to audiences of all ages.
"Whether they are hearing the music for the first time, or have been hearing it all their lives, we're sure that anyone who comes to see this show will leave laughing, singing, and very happy," said Travis Walter, artistic director.
Audiences can enjoy a meet and greet with the group following the 2 p.m. performance. Those who attend the 7:30 p.m. show will be invited to join an afterglow with hors d'oeuvres, wine and refreshments all at no additional cost as well as a meet and greet with the group.
Tickets range from $100 to $125 and all proceeds benefit the theater. Tickets can be purchased by calling (248) 377-3300, online at Ticketmaster.com or in person at the Meadow Brook Theatre box office.
