Meijer program
benefits locals

Samaritan House and Meijer are teaming up to provide food for local individuals and families with the Simply Give program.
Until Sept. 28, shoppers at the Meijer on 26 Mile Road in Washington Township can purchase a $10 food pantry card that will be converted to a Meijer gift card. All cards will benefit the Samaritan House, which will use the cards to buy food for local families.
Samaritan House supports 330 households a month with services like food and utility assistance in the communities of Armada, Bruce, Ray, Romeo, Washington and northern sections of Macomb and Shelby Townships.
Meijer will donate $1 million to the Simply Give program, which began in November 2008 and collected more than $3 million in donations for 400 food pantries in the Midwest.
