Dia de los Muertos
events are planned
Lorenzo Cultural Center, in partnership with the Mexican Consulate of Detroit, will hold Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) Celebration, Wednesday-Sunday, Oct. 30-Nov. 3.
Through exhibits, presentations, workshops and films, different aspects of the Mexican holiday, in which families celebrate the lives of deceased relatives, will be highlighted.
An Altar-Making workshop will be held noon-1 p.m., Wednesday, and 10-11 a.m., Thursday. An Altar for a Friend workshop will be held 2-3:30 p.m., Wednesday, and Tamalada; Making tamales, will be held 2-3 p.m., Thursday.
Day of the Dead exhibit will feature images from celebrations across Mexico; De La Cocina al Ojo (From the Kitchen to the Eye); photos from 1905 through 1940, and Altar Display: Examples of altars and elements of traditional offerings, will be available 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Wednesday-Saturday, and 1-4 p.m., Sunday.
The Cultural Center is located at Macomb Community College's Center Campus, 44575 Garfield Road, Clinton Township.
