feature Rep. Miller
by CHRIS GRAY
Observer Staff Writer
Learn about the latest issues facing Michiganders from one of its top representatives.
The Greater Romeo-Washington Chamber of Commerce is holding its annual State of the Community Spring Luncheon with guest speaker U.S. Rep. Candice Miller.
The luncheon will be held 11 a.m. on March 10 at the Greystone Golf and Banquet Center, located on Mound Road in Washington Township.
Kelley Stephens, chamber executive director, said the decision to have speakers like Miller, County Executive Mark Hackel or other state representatives has been well-received by attendees to the luncheons.
"We try to bring information that is more regional for our county," she said.
Miller has served the U.S. House of Representatives since 2003, representing northern Macomb County and the counties of Huron, Lapeer, Sanilac and St. Clair and eastern Tuscola County.
Miller will speak on upcoming issues like tax reform during her presentation. The congresswoman will also present her initiative to prevent Asian carp from invading the Great Lakes with H.B. 4001 and take questions from those in attendance.
Local elected officials will also have a chance to provide an overview on the activities going on in their municipalities.
The luncheon will also serve as the kick-off for the chamber's 28th annual golf outing, to be held this year on June 10.
Tickets are $25 per person and include lunch. Guests should R.S.V.P. by March 5 by calling (586) 752-4436. The chamber accepts checks and credit card payments, with the latter available at www.rwchamber.com.
The event is sponsored by Henry Ford Macomb Hospitals, Davis Capital Management and DTE Energy.
