Octagon House's 198th birthday
The public is invited to celebrate the 198th birthday of Loren Andrus, who built the historic, eight-sided Octagon House, during its two-day celebration 11 a.m.-4 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, June 14-15, at the Octagon House located at 57500 Van Dyke north of 26 Mile Road.
Andrus' family members are no longer believed to reside in the area, so Octagon House volunteer and local re-enactor Bill Grandstaff will be at the house portraying Andrus from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. both days.
The celebration coincides with the Fifth Annual Washington Township Arts and Orchards Festival June 13-15 at locations throughout the community.
