Bruce hires WT to maintain its
water lines, lift stations

by DEBI MARTONE
Observer Special Writer
The Bruce Township Board of Trustees voted to hire the Washington Township Water and Sewer Department to maintain the township's lines and lift stations at their regular meeting, July 21.
At a cost not to exceed $16,085.21 a year, Washington Township will maintain the water mains, three lift stations and file all compliance forms pursuant to the state's Clean Drinking Water Act.
"We can only do utility billing here in Bruce," said Susan Brockmann, township clerk. "We couldn't start our own water and sewer department for any less than a few hundred thousand dollars a year."
The agreement is expected to begin Aug. 1 and will include the 33 Mile water main, which is still under construction between McKay and Powell roads.
