Easements sought
along Van Dyke

Bruce Township has been offered $11,000 for a 3,553 square foot easement in front of Fire Station No. 2 on Van Dyke.
The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is trying to acquire easements along Van Dyke between 34 Mile and 36 Mile roads as part of a roadway construction and widening project.
The offer was for $3.07 a square foot rounded up to $11,000.
Supervisor Jim Tignanelli, after talking with the Bruce Township assessor, said they believe the worth of the land is closer to $4 per square foot.
Because MDOT needed an answer by last Friday, the board voted unanimously to approve the sale of the land and give Tignanelli authority to negotiate the price higher, but no lower than $11,000.
