Ray Twp. treasurer gets
professional certification

      At the Ray Township Board of Trustees meeting on May 1, Treasurer Doug Stier announced that he has received his certification as a Michigan Certified Professional Treasurer (MiCPT).
       To achieve the MiCPT credentials, Stier completed the three year curriculum of the program which is specifically geared toward training for municipal treasurers, topics of which included debit management, governmental accounting, cash handling along with state laws and regulations.
       Stier explained that the Michigan Municipal Treasurers Association developed the requirements for the certification as well as those prescribed by the Association of Public Treasures of the United States and Canada.
       "With the ever-changing climate that we all are facing, I'm very pleased with the Township Board's proactive approach to continuing education," Stier said. "The value of having made numerous contacts with cities, villages and townships of all sizes and from around the entire state of Michigan will be beneficial when we need to share ideas and plans with each other."
