Servitto-Smith to run as
Trese Servitto-Smith will be running as a Republican for the position of Bruce Township clerk in the August primary.Servitto-Smith has lived in the township for 19 years with her husband of 31 years. She has three children."Since 2008 I've attended all the board meetings watching out for our tax dollars and I'm very disappointed in the conduct of our newer board members," said Servitto-Smith. "I decided to run for office and bring back the professionalism the residents deserve."Republican for BT clerk She said she has 29 years of experience as office manager, bookkeeper and accounting clerk. For the past 13 years she has worked as an assistant to the controller of a manufacturing company. The biggest issues facing the township is the continued development of the business district and the associated water and sewer debt, she said, adding that there is a need to control growth in the area to perserve the rural atmosphere while at the same time trying to increase the tax base. "I want to re-evaluate the clerk's budget to see where potential tax savings might be," said Servitto-Smith. She said she is a supporter of senior programs in the area and the Parks & Rec department. |
