size of LED signs by KIMBERLY SCHERER
While an update to Washington Township's sign ordinance is still under way, the board voted Oct. 3 on a pressing LED sign portion of the ordinance.Observer Special Writer Supervisor Dan O'Leary said several businesses within the township's Village District are waiting on this vote before they go forward with an LED sign purchase. The ordinance update increases the surface area of an LED sign from 30 percent to 70 percent. "You have to have a sign that's adequate enough to read as it scrolls," he said. The updated ordinance prohibited the use of channel letter signs, but the board voted to keep them. They can remain in the business district if they are permanent. They are not allowed as temporary signs. The board voted unanimously to approve the ordinance. Trustees Lisa Rapp and Art Grimes were not present. |
