Romeo Police seeking
info on jewelry thieves

by CHRIS GRAY
Observer Staff Writer
The Romeo Police Department is looking for a thief and his alleged accomplice for stealing jewelry from a Romeo store.
Police Chief Greg Paduch said around 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 4 a man entered Kane's Town Hall Antiques and stole 33 pieces of jewelry totaling $25,000 in value.
The suspect is described as a 6-foot tall white male with short brown hair wearing a dark hat. The man stole the items from a display case and was seen fleeing on N. Main Street in a four-door brown car toward Bruce Township.
Paduch said officers believe the man has an accomplice, described as being an older 5-foot-5-inch heavy-set woman wearing multiple rings, bracelets and necklaces.
Paduch said the woman asked questions about the display case that the items were stolen from prior to the robbery and tried on seven to nine pieces of jewelry, but didn't purchase anything.
Most of the items stolen were 10-karat and 14-karat rings. A reward is being offered by the store for any tips leading to an arrest. Anyone with information can contact the Romeo Police Department at (586) 752-3587.
