Incumbents, newcomer
voted to Village Council

      Voters selected two incumbents and a newcomer to the Village Board of Trustees on Nov. 6.
       Following the results of the election, Incumbent Trustees Russell Rinke and Ron Rossell will re-claim their spots on the Village Council. They will be joined by newcomer Christine Malzahn.
       Trustee Margaret Feldhus will step down from the board, having decided to not run for re-election.
       Rinke gained the most votes at 952 votes (28.9 percent), followed by Rossell with 813 votes (24.7 percent). Rinke did not respond by Observer deadline.
       "(It was a) gratifying win," Rossell said. "My hope is we on the Village Council can work together for the betterment of our community."
       Christine Malzahn, a former DDA chairperson, collected 808 votes (24.5 percent) to snag the final trustee spot.
       "I know that this job won't be easy and that we face some difficult economic uncertainties, but I am confident that my business and leadership skills will help us overcome these obstacles," Malzahn said.
       Candidate Richard Seldon garnered 724 votes (22 percent).
       A total of 1,007 voters submitted ballots in Romeo's Bruce Township precinct, while 1,945 voters in Romeo's Washington Township precinct performed their civic duty.
