Romeo District Library to
work on strategic plan

by CHRIS GRAY
Observer Staff Writer
Providing resources and programs while creating a plan to further enhance those assets are in store for the Romeo District Library in the coming year.
Library Director Kristen Valyi-Hax said the library board has begun working on a new strategic plan this year. She said the goal of the plan is to be more responsive to library trends as well as the needs of patrons.
"The library has always aimed to offer high-quality resources and programs to the community," she said.
Valyi-Hax said surveys sent out to local businesses, educators and patrons will provide information on what direction the library plans to take with the plan.
The strategic plan subcommittee, made up of Valyi-Hax and three library board members, will meet this month to figure out the next steps in having a plan together by June.
Both the Graubner and Kezar libraries are continuing to provide informative and educational programs as well as entertainment throughout the year.
At Graubner, upcoming events range from a teen study group to a hobbit party, visits from local authors and a soup program featuring a local chef.
At Kezar, programs include family health promotion, a study of African-American towns in Macomb County and a look at new health care laws.
