Dan O'Leary to runWashington Township Supervisor Dan O'Leary has announced his intention to run for state representative of the 36th House District in the August 2014 Republican primary.

He will be going after the seat currently held by Republican Pete Lund, a small business owner and adjunct professor at Walsh College, who will be unable to run due to term limits. His term ends Dec. 31, 2014.
O'Leary said the "financial turnaround in Washington Township has been an extraordinary experience" and he wants to bring what he has done and learned to the state level.
"Our model is one that needs to be brought to the other struggling communities and to the state level," said O'Leary.
O'Leary has been a resident of Macomb County for the past 30 years. He is a graduate of Wayne State University and earned his certified public accountant status at Arthur Anderson. He was employed at DTE Engery and its subsidiaries and predecessors from 1990 until taking office in Washington Township in 2008.
He is a member of the Macomb County GOP Executive Committee, chairman of the Southeastern Michigan Council of Governments Transportation Advisory Committee and a Republican delegate.
He was elected supervisor of Washington Township in November of 2008.
He has three sons and lives in Carriage Hills.
