The Romeo Police Department responded to an auto accident just outside of its headquarters around 10:45 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 23, that resulted in damage to poles on W. St. Clair Street.
According to the police report, the driver, a minor from Romeo, was traveling northbound on S. Rawles Street. When they turned eastbound onto W. St. Clair Street, they hit an icy path and slid into the poles.
The report indicates the vehicle's airbag deployed and that the driver may have received minor injuries. No other occupants were in the vehicle. The vehicle was reported as undriveable.
The accident damaged a village lamp pole and a DTE Energy pole. Village Clerk Marian McLaughlin said the driver's insurance will be responsible for covering the damages. She said DTE Energy will work on the guidewire pole that was damaged, while the village lamp post was replaced on Dec. 2.
"(The driver) is okay, that is the important part," McLaughlin said.
