Accessory building for
BRFD on hold for winter

A potential accessory building for the Bruce-Romeo Fire Department has been frozen from moving ahead.
The tentative building, located behind the department's fire hall on Van Dyke, will have to wait until Bruce officials can determine if funding is available to finish the structure.
The project began as a citizen effort led by Darby O'Dell, a resident and trooper with the Michigan State Police to provide storage for the state police and fire department. The cement pad and trusses have been provided through the group's efforts.
Bruce Township Clerk Susan Brockmann said the state police are unable to be involved with the project, and the group raising funds for the project has pulled out. She said officials like the fire chief and supervisor will determine if there is funding available in the spring.
