Village changed
attorney budget

Debates about legal counsel caused changes to how the Village of Romeo handles attorney activities in 2013.
Village Trustees Bob Hart and Christine Malzahn asked to examine the village attorney's fees for a possible reduction in April. They cited a different fee schedule compared to Richmond, which Village Attorney Mark Clark also represents.
Clark said he understood the village wanting to be fiscally conservative, but wouldn't negotiate against himself. He said the different fees are due to Romeo being a client before Richmond.
In May, the Village Board of Trustees voted 3-2 to splitting the attorney duties into two separate appointments and budget line items.
