Sheriff Anthony Wickersham said just after 8 a.m. the county clerk's office received the first of three phone calls from a male claiming there was a bomb in the building.
The building was closed and evacuated at 8:45 a.m., and two bomb-sniffing dogs from the sheriff's department were called in to perform a floor-by-floor sweep. K-9 units from the Oakland County Sheriff's Office and Michigan State Police assisted with the search.
At 12:35 p.m. the building was deemed safe and was reopened to resume normal operations. The sheriff's office indicated it is investigating the matter.
