Detectives arrest Wash.
Twp man for exposure
by CHRIS GRAYA Washington Township man wasn't expecting police to show up when he arranged a meeting online.
Observer Staff Writer
Gordon Alan Cole, 49, was arrested on Feb. 21 after Macomb Area Computer Enforcement team (MACE) detectives spoke with him on the Internet about meeting at a specific time and place.
Lt. John Michalke with the Macomb County Sheriff's Office said when detectives arrived around 11:15 a.m. at the location, they found Cole performing a sex act.
"He was alone," he said.
Detectives arrested him and brought him to Macomb County Jail. Cole was charged with aggravated indecent exposure, a two-year felony; and using a computer to commit a crime, a four-year felony.
Details about who Cole thought he would meet or the nature of the conversations were not revealed. Michalke did note, though, that this was the third arrest for MACE since Feb. 12 involving computer-related charges.
"It's some good, focused investigative tactics being used by the MACE team," he said. "They're good at their job."
Cole was arraigned on Feb. 24 at the 42-1 District Court in Romeo. He was given a $5,000 cash or surety bond that he subsequently posted.
Cole's next appearance in court was scheduled for March 4. The results were not available as of print deadline.
