SEMCOG now assessing RomeoA preliminary analysis of how Village of Romeo government operates has begun.
A committee of Village Council members met with Dave Boerger, director of the Southeast Michigan Council of Government's (SEMCOG) Local Government Efficiency and Effectiveness program, on April 3 to begin assessments of how Romeo's operations compare to similarly-sized villages.
The committee is expected to reconvene this week to analyze Boerger's findings. The trustees will make a recommendation to the entire Village Council on April 21 on whether to proceed with in-depth assessments.
The assessments stem from trustees asking whether the village clerk and treasurer positions should be appointed as opposed to elected by residents.
The assessment is free due to Romeo's membership in SEMCOG.
