QUILT SHOW FEATURES 235 HAND-SEWN QUILTS
Peaches and Patches, a 25 year quilting guild located in Romeo, held their bi-annual Quilt Showcase at the Romeo Community Center on April 25 and 26. This year's show featured 235 quilts that were hand sewn by members of the guild and other quilters from the area. The show was judged by professional quilter Janna Getzin, who traveled from Midland to award blue ribbons in a variety of categories. Below, Julie Munn of the Romeo-Washington-Bruce Parks and Recreation Department stands with Gail Winnie, a 21 year member of the guild, who won a first place ribbon for best piecing for her quilt titled Orange and Black Stars. Above, Winnie stands with her daughter, Rhonda Howell, also a 21 year member, who was awarded a blue ribbon for the Best of Show for her intricately pieced quilt Mending Fences. Proceeds from the show benefit the Community Center, where the 25 member quilt guild meets the second Monday of the month.
