STUDENT ART SHOW
The Starkweather Arts Center is holding its annual Student Art Show through March 27. Starkweather educational coordinator Peg Grandstaff personally greeted all of the artists that attended the opening reception, which was held the evening of Friday, March 13. Art teachers from all of the schools in the Romeo Community Schools district chose the artwork that best portrayed the projects they have been teaching this year, totaling 270 pieces that are on display in the upstairs and downstairs galleries. Above, senior Maranda Smith showed her mom, Janet, a thread art peacock she created for her 3D Design class. The class is one of many taught by Lisa Joseph at Romeo High School. At right top, Logan Christensen stands proudly with his owl painting, which was one of the favorites at the show. He is a first-grader at Indian Hills Elementary. At right bottom, Christina Weymouth, a 10th-grader, stands with her project from her Computer Graphics II class. The projects were submitted into a contest for the North American International Auto Show, which was held in Detroit earlier this year. Below, Katie Weymouth, a freshman, is pictured with her self-portrait pop art project that she created in computer graphics class.
