RPD joins take
back day April 26
The Romeo Police Department is participating in a national effort to keep prescription drugs out of the wrong hands.
The department is joining others in the National Take Back Initiative Day put on by the Drug Enforcement Agency from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 26.
Citizens can drop off unwanted, expired medications at the department during the day. No needles or liquids will be accepted. To dispose of liquids and needles, contact the Macomb County Health Department for instructions.
The department collects an average of 25 pounds to 40 pounds of unused drugs each year through the initiative.

Burn permits
available online
The Bruce-Romeo Fire Department is streamlining the process for residents to acquire burning permits.
Fire Chief Ken Staelgraeve said residents can request burn permits on the township's website. By submitting the proper information and an email address, residents can have the permit sent to them.
The site explains the differences between townships and villages for permits. Permits are good for four days.
The link is accessed by going to the fire deparment's page under the "public safety" menu. The township's website is http://www.brucetwp.org.
