FB post for rock causes outcry
A hoax on a Facebook page about the Romeo Rock caused backlash from residents.
The message posted April 8 said the Romeo Rock, located on Van Dyke in front of the former Kmart, was now the Sherwin-Williams Rock because the company purchased the rights from Washington Township. The post went on to say that a $20 permit was required from the township to paint the rock, and only Sherwin-Williams paint could be used.
Around 200 responses were posted, with people expressing anger or disappointment at the township and threatening to boycott Sherwin-Williams.
Washington Township Supervisor Dan O'Leary said the post was untrue, and questioned the motivations behind it.

MCD tree fundraiser
under way
The 64th Annual Spring Tree, Shrub and Plant Fundraiser at the Macomb Conservation District (MCD) is under way.
The district is offering more than 65 species of trees, shrubs and plants, some even up to seven feet tall. All transplants are sold bare-root and are suited for every type of landscape or property, even container gardens. Pre-orders are recommended to get the best selection.
All remaining stock will be sold during the pick up days at the MCD office on April 25-26. The office is located at 72955 Van Dyke in Romeo.
