Romeo, Juliette
join forces again
For the 19th consecutive year, the Romeo, Michigan, and Juliette, Ga, post offices will continue their celebrated alliance, which offers the country and parts of the world a dual Valentine's Day pictorial cancellation featuring the theme of Romeo and Juliet.
The cancellation highlights a silhouette of sweethearts expressing their love for the holiday.
To receive the special cancellation, enclose a stamped, addressed valentine in a larger envelope and mail it to: Romeo and Juliette Valentine Cancellation, Postmaster, 119 Church St., Romeo, MI 48065-9998.
There is no deadline for the cancellation but allow normal mailing time in order to guarantee timely delivery before Valentine's Day.

URR talk to be
given on Feb. 7
The Romeo Historical Society (RHS) will hold an Underground Railroad talk. RHS curator Richard Beringer will discuss the Underground Railroad from a local perspective.
The talk will begin at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 7, at the Romeo Arts and Archive Center, 290 N. Main Street.
Beringer will cover the life of a slave, the Underground Railroad and area homes that are said to be on this route to freedom. He will also talk about the push to end segregation in the community and acts of bravery by local citizens.
Admission is free and the event is suitable for all ages.
